TOURISM - PIER

Betting on the nautical tourism, the Superintendence of the Port and the City Hall, built a Tourism Pier in Itajai at Vida Ramos Square downtown. With the construction of the terminal, inaugurated in September 2000, the goal was to attract passengers' ships, as a way to increment the tourism activity in the city and the region.

The interior custom house and structure counts on the docking and mooring dauphins, terminal for passengers, embarkation and landing, installations for the administration, rooms for the Federal Customhouse and accesses, and besides all the basic infrastructure. It is the only exclusive terminal for transatlantic passengers in Brazil.

The strategical localization is another positive factor. The distance is a maximum  of one hour from the main tourist points of the region, as the Park Beto Carrero World, in Penha; the Tourist Complex Island of Porto Belo, in Porto Belo city; the Unipraias park, in Balneario Camboriú, besides the cities of Brusque, Blumenau and Joinville, that are considered excellent for the tourism purchases.

Besides being a terminal for passengers, the Pier is also used when empty, for the mooring of the Brazilian navy ships and for oceanographic researches, merchant ships that need repair and also support boats, for instance tug boats and dredges.
